Our Research

Thinking Critically is a research platform for exploring and examining the actions, interactions, and transactions between people and the systems that manage, monitor, and maintain control of an orderly society.

The research concentrates on issues and conditions that play into the grand narratives of a global society. The so-called problems of society are rich with controversy, contention, and complexity. The topics we explore and examine have considerable impact and influence on society. Our research is directed toward exposing our readership to a wider, evaluative lens.

Critical Thinking Praxis: The praxis includes individual, psychological, and social components of thinking critically. The research focuses on developing a critical thinking framework, using a transdisciplinary perspective to curate and coalesce around the issues and impasses of society. Observations and opinion appear in our Just Think series on Substack.

Dominant Narratives and Ideologies: The news, noise, and nascent opinion concerning the research, reporting, and reification of narratives and ideologies. Observations and opinion appear in our What They Said series on Substack.

Media: The reactions and reflections about what media content is produced and how it is positioned relative to contemporary issues impacting and influencing society. Observations and opinion appear in our Media Watch series on Substack.

Organizational Pathology: Examining and exploring how our organizations and institutions impact and influence society. Research focuses upon maladaptation, resilience, and the workscape. Observations and opinion appear in our Organizational Society series on Substack.

Politics, Policy, and the Technocracy: The concourse of political assessments, extracting policy assumptions, and the phenomenon of elected officials relying upon ‘experts’ to formulate policy is troubling. Observations and opinion appear in our Governance series on Substack.

Sustainable Development: Of all the complex systems problems operating in our world, an exemplar would be the sustainability movement. This ‘movement’ has global ambitions, exemplified through the actors and actions of its narrative. Observations and opinion appear in our Sustainability series on Substack.

Transdisciplinarity: Transdisciplinarity leverages all disciplines to produce transcendent approaches or engagement strategies for complex systems and their problems. The ‘trans’ gets us above and beyond the fray by providing an overarching synthesis of multiple knowledges and methodologies. Observations and opinion appear in our Trans-D series on Substack.

This platform is dedicated to tapping the tremendous potential each of us has for self-discovery. Thinking Critically is not predicated upon directing others as to how to think, or what to think. Our hope is to guide others into thinking better and acquiring the tools required for their own journey.
